When announcing a 10-80, you must include the following information in your radio comms:

  • Your Callsign

  • Vehicle CallSign (Eg: Alpha-301)

  • Vehicle Description and colour

  • Vehicle driver/registered to if known.

  • Directions and Streetnames.

  • Any Landmarks which would help others locate the Chase.

Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT)

The ability to PIT a vehicle in a pursuit is dynamic and useful, but has some considerations. Remember, bumping and grinding in a chase is NOT a PIT maneuver.

  • Long chase without end sight

  • Authorization from Higher officers

  • Outside city and safe

  • Vehicle is not moving

  • No Backup

  • Within City limits unless given approval

Negotiations

With a secured scene it is now time to begin negotiations. The Goal of the Negotiation Process is to save lives and to resolve crisis incidents while attempting to avoid unnecessary risk to officers, citizens, victims, and subjects.
